Shadowreign RPG (9434 views)
Guide by BP01Play this GameSince there aren’t badges for Shadowreign RPG at the time I’m writing this, I think I’ll just walk you through the entire game…
Start the game! You’ll need to pick your gender and name, and get some backstory. Use ASDW or arrows to move, numbers or mouse for abilities, and tab, space, or the mouse for targets. (As the tutorial box will tell you.) C lets you check your inventory, equipment, and stats; T lets you assign talent points; B lets you assign abilities to hotkeys; M brings up a map (square are added in as you go to places); G brings up options.
A man will walk on-screen from the right, and you will be able to talk to him after a moment. Walk up, and the conversation (if you can call it that) will begin. Pick up the bow he gives you (with your mouse), press C and equip it. You can press 1 to auto-attack if you have a target now!
Go 1 screen to your right. It’s time for battle! Just click on a skeleton, press 1, and it should be dead before it can reach you. Pick up anything they drop; equip any armor (not weapons, unless it’s a bow). You should get 2 talent points after beating all the enemies; put them into Steady Shot and Sylvan Touch in the Warder tree. Assign SS to 2 and ST to 3 with B, and from now on use 2 whenever attacking an enemy, and 3 whenever you need healing.
You can now save your game (blue) or buy from the merchant (purple). You can buy equipment from the merchant if you want; I would get the legs, shoes, or hands, since you are going to want to focus on agility. (We are going to be an archer, and they use agility. Agility also lets you move more quickly, which I find makes traveling much less frustrating. So, as a rule of thumb, use equipment with the highest agility. However, if equipment A has high agility, and equipment B has lower agility but a lot of other buffs, use your discretion in determining which one to wear.)
Speak to yellow to get a quest, go a screen to the left to get another quest. Go two screens to the right; it’s time to face your first Death Gate. After getting rid of certain numbers of health, it will spit out 2 monsters, then 2 more monsters, and finally 3 monsters. You can use SS to speed things up with the gate, definitely use it on the monsters it spawns. For now you should have plenty of energy, but later on you might just want to use auto-shot on the gate so save your energy for the monsters (since that’s what will give you the problem). Use ST if the skeletons get close and start to attack you. You should get a talent point after beating this gate. Use it on Nature’s Grasp, and assign it to 4. Also, put the next 5 talent points into Hunter’s Pursuit.
One screen up and two screens to the left (above the left-most square of the town) is another Death Gate! Just use the same strategy; at this point, the Death Gate shouldn’t cause any trouble. A screen to the left is the bandit camp. Taking out the center leader with SS shouldn’t be a problem; make sure the archers are far enough away. You’ll take some damage when fighting the archers, but nothing too bad. Two screens down is the last Death Gate. All the way to the right is the last bandit camp. Kill the 2 soldiers when they are far away from the archers enough, and then kill the archers.
Go up and to the left into town. Sell anything they dropped that you don’t want (and save your game). Speak to the yellow guy here and the one in the screen to the left to get rewards. You have a new quest, so travel around to one screen up. There will be a boss and 2 skeletons. Wait for one skeleton to go away, and kill that skeleton (one SS was enough for me). Then attack the other skeleton, and as soon as it’s done, immediately cast NG (4) on the boss. You should have plenty of time to use SS and auto-fire on him to kill him before he reaches you. Return to town, speak to yellow. You can now leave town.
Travel down and speak to the yellow you find. Go left 1 screen, and you’ll see another yellow. Going up to him will trigger a fight that you can’t run from. Run down, and to the right or left. Circle the arena until all the monsters are together, then select one. You can’t attack while running, so when you get to a corner, press 2, wait for it to fire, and then run to the next corner. You shouldn’t get hit (much) and after the battle return right to the first yellow. If you go down south, you’ll find a camp; save, sell, and get the quest. (If you want to buy, you can do that, too. However, you will most likely get most, if not all, of the stuff you would’ve bought as a drop or reward) Around this time I finished Hunter’s Pursuit; after that, fill up Stalker’s Fury and assign it to 5.
Go south to the village, which is overrun with voids, the most annoying enemy, simply because they are so fast. Attack and kill one with SS, then run off-screen if you got the attention of another one; they won’t respawn. Repeat this for the screen to the left and to the right, then return to the camp. Get your new quest; destroy the Death Gates that are to the left and right. The monsters it spawns will probably reach you, but you should be fine if you use Sylvan Touch. Once you’ve filled up Stalker’s Fury, get Blessing of the Wind, then Scorpion Bite (6), then Explosive Shot (7), then fill up Nature’s Recovery. Finally, after that, get Shadow Shot (8). (That should take you a while!)
Go into town and get your new quest. As you travel south, you’ll see another yellow; get his quest, but continue on south for now. When you get to the sage, there will be a save near him and a red; you can use reds to reset your talents, for 100 gold. The first gate sorcerer is two screens to the right (although you can’t get there directly). Remember how in town I talked about killing a void, and then running off-screen? You probably didn’t need that then, but you might need that now. (If you get lucky and the voids disperse you won’t, but I’m just mentioning this over and over again so that you remember it when you finally do need it!) So just kill off the voids one-by-one with SS, and then take on the gate sorcerer. If you keep on switching between screens you should be fine, as the positions and stuff of any non-killed monsters will reset. (Just be quick, since the voids will respawn.)
From this first gate sorcerer, go up 4 screens and walk up to the well. The Toy Sword will fall out; next time you go to the sage, drop buy the yellow guy in the screen above him. The second gate sorcerer is in the bottom-left corner of the entire map, so kill him like the first and return to the sage. Talk to the sage, return to town, and talk to the yellow guy on the way. Anyway…
Oh noez! Time for another boss. Head west, and you’ll come upon him quickly. Wait for the skeleton guards to get away from him a little, and then kill the skeletons. It’s okay if they come up to you and damage you; the important part is just getting them away. Now what you need to do is use 4 on the boss, and make sure that he always has 4 on him! Just run around the edges of the map, stopping to use 2 and 4 when you need, and you shouldn’t take any damage. The skeletons will probably respawn before you’re finished, but just ignore them and run away; they shouldn’t catch up to you either.
Before heading back to the Sage, head up one screen, and you’ll meet a guy who gives you a riddle! He asks you how many months have 28 days… The answer is 12, of course! (Some months have more than 28 days, but all of them have 28 days.)
Okay, return to the Sage. Time to head to the next town! Go up to the village, and travel east along the path. You’ll come across some Ember Voids; kill them or go around them. Right outside the city you’ll find a yellow, and then you’ll find the main quest’s yellow in the screen to the right. The city has everything spread over 4 squares, although for now only the bottom half is accessible. From the bottom-right square, head south 2 screens to the old man. Then return to the guy in the city.
We’re going to put this on hold for a moment and take care of the bandits. From the guy asking you about them, head up 2 screens and left 1. There will be 2 looters, 2 wizards, and the captain. When a looter and wizard are a way from the group, use 4 on the looter, then use 2 over and over again on the wizard to kill him. (NOTE: You’re slowing the looter, but killing the wizard!) Leave the screen and go back; use 4 on the same looter, then 2 repeatedly to kill him. When the boss is away from the remaining pair, use 4 and then 2 repeatedly to kill him. Two screens south of the guy asking you to do this is the same thing; use the same strategy, except you don’t need to use 4 against the boss, since he’s ranged.
Back to the main quest! From the old man, go down and left 1 screen. Kill a void, go off screen, return, kill the other one, return, kill the mind reaver. Use 3 or Q if you begin to run low on health (use 3 when you get to half-way). Your health might dip a bit, but it shouldn’t be too much trouble. The old man will now tell you to destroy 2 Death Gates. Go all the way to the right to get to the first Death Gate. (Before you fight it, go one screen down to the second riddle guy; the answer is 15.) Take care of the Lasher Voids, then go after the gate. Luckily it spawns skeletons, which you can outrun, so when they spawn, run around the edge and use 2 at the corners. Feel free to use 7 when you are being chased by multiple skeletons. The other gate is one screen down and one screen to the left of the old man (where the mind reaver was). It was at this time that I finished putting points into the Warder tree; everything should be maxed, except Mongoose and Spirit of the Grove. I put my next talent point into Recall (Arcane) to make travel easier, and alternated the next 10 between Focused Mind (Arcane) and Recovery (Gladiator).
Now the old man wants you to kill the gate sorcerers. The first is one screen to the left of the second mind reaver/second death gate. Take out the monsters around him, and switch screens after killing one if another monster is also attacking you. Once you’ve killed them, attack the gate sorcerer immediately because the other monsters will respawn soon; make sure to use 3 or Q if you’re low on health. If the gate sorcerer goes away from the monsters, you can also then attack him, even if you haven’t killed all the monsters. The second gate sorcerer is 3 screens to the right of the first one; use the same strategy.
Return to the old man. It’s time for the swamp boss! He’s 2 screens above the riddle guy, or 1 screen above the first death gate. You should know the drill. Take out the regular monsters first. Then just attack him while running around the edges, while keeping 4 on him at all times!! (Keeping 4 on him is most important; he slows you down if he hits you, and then you won’t be able to escape even if you do get 4 on him.)
Go back to the old man. You can now use the north part of the city! The merchant has some good items, although you may have gotten better drops; remember to max agility! In the same screen as the merchant is your next quest… which is to speak to the guy one screen to the left! He’ll tell you to destroy 3 death gates. Leave the city from the northern exit, keep going north, and you’ll get to the first death gate. The other two are 1 screen to the left and 1 screen to the right of this one, and all 3 are exactly the same. You want to use the exact same strategy: attack the death gate until it spawns skeletons, then run around the sides while shooting arrows at the skeletons when you get to the corners. At this point it gets kind of long and tedious, but it’s the easiest and safest way. If you want to make things go quicker, just shoot at the death gate until it dies without focusing on the monsters it spawns (while running, and shooting at it from the corner). If you really want you can just leave, but you’ll miss out on a lot of experience, so then once you have all the skeletons out you can use 7 to deal damage to all of them; this way all the skeletons will be weakened once you fight them. If you’re having trouble getting all the skeletons together (it’s much easier to run from one large group then a bunch of small groups) use 8.
Once that’s done, the guy will tell you to beat the army in the north. You need to fight 4 skeletons and 4 voids. All I can say is use 4 on the monster you’re trying to kill, spam 2, get 3 and maybe 5 on before, and hope for lots of dodges. I’d go after the voids first. This is annoying, but not too difficult, and it should be really easy once only the skeletons are left. Go to the guy in the top-left of the city, then the woman in the top-right. Go all the way north until you get to a well surrounded by tree stumps. (Before you go on, go all the way to the left until you get to the third riddle guy; the answer is 33.) Back at the tree stump puzzle, each stump represents an hour, like on a clock. First 5 o’clock, then noon/midnight, then 9 o’clock. Speak to the guy, and go 2 screens to the left. Oh boy, this is gonna be tough… not really, since you don’t actually need to survive. Stand on the right side, in line with the flower. Select a monster as far to the left as possible, and press 8. As soon as it’s finished casting, run to the left, and you should die as soon as you get the flower. Return to the guy in the north.
You’ll find the second guy in the bottom-right tile of the lake. He wants you to kill all the lake monsters, so… do it. They’re aren’t too tough; use 4 to slow down the soldiers. (You’ll probably fill up Focused Mind and Recovery now; don’t worry about what to do after that, since you’re going to reset your talent points in a moment.) After you’ve finished this quest, return to the second village, then go south to the sage.
Isn’t it nice he won’t make you work for his piece? Too bad you still do. Reset your talent points with the red guy. (For some reason, you need to re-equip your bow.) In the Assassin tree, distribute 5 points between Dead Eye and Anticipation, then get Stealth. That’s actually basically all you need to do. I then filled up the Warder tree as before, and split my remaining points between Recovery and Focused Mind. As you level up and get more talent points, spread them between Focused Mind, Recovery, and Dead Eye/Anticipation.
Once you have your points redistributed and your abilities hotkeyed, go up to the village. Turn on stealth, and walk up to the inn; wander around until a ring of fire appears. You can take off stealth now. Now you need to face 4 Shadow Stalkers; they will appear out of nowhere when you get close enough to their hiding spot. So walk around, and when one appears just shoot the heck out of it. If you hadn’t used stealth, all 4 would’ve appeared at once and you probably would’ve died. Anyway, return to the sage. Be careful from now on, since Shadow Stalkers will be scattered around the entire map. (They are very easy on their own, but very annoying when in groups; as soon as one appears, stop and kill it so you don’t activate other ones by accident.)
The fourth guy is 1 screen down from where the old man was (he’s the skeleton). This one actually is a freebie. Once you get the armor, the fifth guy will appear. Time for a boss! He is one screen up and one screen to the left. This boss is very easy and very tedious; just get 4 on him at all times, and shoot at him from the corners while running around the edges. He’ll go down soon enough.
Go all the way north, speak to the guy, and choose the bow. Now go east, it’s time for the Shadow Gate! There are 2 key differences about this gate: it spits out 4 monsters each time, and the first time it’s voids. The skeletons are easy; just go around the sides shooting at them. The voids are faster, but, since you’re a warder and maxed out agility, you should be able to outrun them. (Barely.) It may be just me, but I think I can put more distance between me and them when I go diagonally. So run diagonally to put enough space between you, use 2, and immediately curve around and go diagonally the other way. Don’t let them hit you, because they can slow you, and then it’s game over! That first wave of the void is the hardest part of this battle. Once the shadow gate is gone, you need to face the final boss. Just treat him like any other boss; as long as you keep 4 on him at all times, you’ll win. And then you’re done!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
